SimpleTech solid state IDE flash drives are the product of choice for applications requiring high reliability and high tolerance to shock, vibration, humidity, altitude and temperature. Because there are no moving parts, flash drives are the most reliable form of data storage for high reliability and mission critical applications.
While the inherent ruggedness and reliability of flash drives relative to rotating hard drives is intuitive, new applications for flash drives are emerging due to the low cost per usable megabyte of flash storage. Most applications using embedded operating systems such as VxWorks, Windows XP/embedded, and Linux don"t have large data storage requirements, and therefore a cost savings can be realized when using flash drives.
