1.General
GPRS is General Packet Radio Servicebuilt on the basis of GSM network to provide packet data service.It 
works at the same frequency band, the same modulation and the same TDMA frame structure with GSM. GPRS can be implemented at existing GSM BSS by plug-in packet data card and associated updated software. Therefore, the system coverage is as same as GSM network. GPRS users can transmit and receive data from end to end by packet model. Packet data service is highly efficient and low cost for customers, for it does not occupy the circuit switched network resources. In this way, GPRS is a great communication channel for interrupting and bursting data transmission.
Maximum GPRS bandwidth can reach171.2Kb/s and the actual application is 40~100Kb/s. Provided TCP/IPprotocol connections on the system, GPRS network can be applied onInternet connection and data transmission, etc..
