1.General

GPRS is General Packet Radio Servicebuilt on the basis of GSM network to provide packet data service.It works at the same frequency band, the same modulation and the same TDMA frame structure with GSM. GPRS can be implemented at existing GSM BSS by plug-in packet data card and associated updated software. Therefore, the system coverage is as same as GSM network. GPRS users can transmit and receive data from end to end by packet model. Packet data service is highly efficient and low cost for customers, for it does not occupy the circuit switched network resources. In this way, GPRS is a great communication channel for interrupting and bursting data transmission.

Maximum GPRS bandwidth can reach171.2Kb/s and the actual application is 40~100Kb/s. Provided TCP/IPprotocol connections on the system, GPRS network can be applied onInternet connection and data transmission, etc..

GPRS is a kind of mobile packet dataservice that provides high speed wireless IP connection betweenmobile users and data networks. It is developed with packet switchtechnology; each user can occupy multiple radio channels, at thesame time, one single radio channel can be shared by multipleusers. Thus, radio resources are effectively utilized and themaximum GPRS bandwidth can reach 171.2Kb/s. the GPRS user canremain online all the time, only pay for the data has beentransmitted and received because of this technology.

The GF-5000W GPRS modem developed byBeijing Garefowl New-tech Co., Ltd. it provides mobile users accessto Internet and can be connected directly to personal PC via serialport interface. Co-working with dialup software, the modem canautomatically detect link status and redial if the linkdisconnects. It is a highly reliable link satisfying requirementsof industrial data transmission.
